Feeling too lazy to go to gym? Not to worry – it’s a common problem amongst those who hold gym memberships. What if there was an easier way to get fit? British entrepreneur Richard Davis may just have found the answer with this business ideaVirtual Gym TV.

What is Virtual Gym TV?

Described as ‘the future of fitness’, Virtual Gym TV is a live broadcasting, on-demand online gym. For just £5 a month – significantly less than traditional gym subscription fees – virtual exercise classes can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in the comfort of your living room.

How does Virtual Gym TV work?

40 new exercise classes are uploaded to the website every month, covering disciplines like aerobics, step classes, boxercise, yoga, spinning and body sculpting. Classes cater for all fitness levels, from couch potato to pro athlete.

Then there’s the Virtual Personal Trainer (VPT), a web application which allows virtual gym bunnies to upload physiological and psychological data and get fitness programmes tailored to their unique needs, along with specific fitness goals and nutrition plans.

With over 100 000 gym subscriptions (and counting) in just over two years, Virtual Gym TV is proving to be a winning business idea. Would a virtual gym get South Africans going, we wonder?
