There’s something quite whimsical about receiving a postcard in the mail, recounting a dear friend’s escapes in some exotic location. Alas, with the advent of the digital era, postcards seem to have gone the way of the dodo. Or have they? Postagram is a rather quaint business idea which is harnessing mobile technology and social media to bring the humble old postcard back from obscurity…
What is Postagram?
Postagram is an application for iPhones and Android smartphones which allows you to send physical postcards of photographs from a variety of sources, through the mail.
How does Postagram work?
Logon to the Postagram website and create a Postagram account, using your email address. You will be asked to enter your credit card details the first time you send a Postagram – these will be kept securely on file, so that you can make Postagram purchases in the future. Next download the appropriate application for you – either iPhone or Android.
Sending postcards is easy – simply open up the Postagram application and click Create a Postagram, choose a photo from your albums, reposition it if you like and add a personal message. Once you’re happy with it, click Looks Great, I’ll Buy It! – each postcard will set you back 99 cents (US). Once your postcard is printed and hits the post, you’ll receive a confirmation email. And there you go – a nice and easy way to surprise your friends and family!
