But Beware of Cybersquatting…
While it’s perfectly legit to snap up expired domain names (called dropped catches), monetise and sell them, be sure to make the distinction between making money online and being a cybersquatter. Cybersquatting is defined as trafficking in domain names in bad faith, with the intention of profiting from the goodwill of a trademark which belongs to another person or entity. A cybersquatter might, for example, register a domain name very close to a brand name and then approach that brand with an offer to sell at an inflated price. Cybersquatting is outlawed in many countries.
