What is eBay?
Got some old ‘stuff’ lying around the house which you don’t use? Sell it on eBay! eBay touts itself as the world’s online marketplace; a place for buyers and sellers to come together and trade almost anything. Popular items for trade include books, electronics (like cameras and phones) and home and garden furniture, although eBay has 35 different categories, covering everything from stamps, dolls and bears to fashion and entertainment memorabilia.
How Do I Sell Stuff on eBay?
Register as a seller on eBay and then list your items for sale. There are two ways to sell stuff:
- Buy it Now – this option allows buyers to purchase your goods at the fixed, advertised price
- Online Auction – you specify a reserve price and buyers bid on the item. When the listing expires, the buyer with the highest bid gets to keep the item.
The first fifty items you list for an online auction are free listings. You will, however, have to pay a Final Value Fee, which is calculated on the selling price and is charged per item.
