Also known as Political, Economic, Social and Technological (PEST) Analysis, it is a framework of macro-environmental factors used for environmental scanning during the strategic planning process. Similar to a SWOT Analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) it considers factors such as unemployment, inflation, political stability, tax policies, demographics, education and skills of the workforce, technological advancement, etc.
