Christmas is a time for giving; and for cashing in. And while you’re counting the profits of a great business idea, don’t forget to factor in birthdays, weddings and new babies. We just love to give gifts we can eat on these special occasions and Biscuiteers, a London-based iced biscuit company, is making the most of it…
What is Biscuiteers?
Biscuiteers specialises in iced gift biscuits. Biscuiteers co-founder Harriet Hastings’ original business idea was a simple one – to create biscuits which looked as beautiful as they tasted. Using all-natural ingredients and centuries-old techniques, Biscuiteers biscuits are instantly recognisable. Hastings describes her biscuits as ‘beautiful and witty’, and that they are; each one a tiny work of art.
Their distinct character makes Biscuiteers iced biscuits not only great personal gifts, but fabulous corporate gifts – says Harriet, her bakers are wonderfully adept at recreating logos, fashion designs and other icons, in icing. Big-name UK brands who’ve commissioned Biscuiteers to do iced biscuits for publicity events and product launches include Selfridge’s, Mulberry, Boden and Harvey Nichols. Then there’s the delightfully patriotic biscuit collection made to celebrate the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton (see below).
With an extensive range of delicious goodies covering every type of celebration (even pets get their own treats), it’s no wonder that this edible business idea is raking in a magnificent £1 million a year! And all from humble origins – Biscuiteers was started in the kitchen of the home Hastings shares with hubby and Biscuiteers co-founder, Stevie Congdon.
