Every gal wants to be a starlet strutting the red carpet, right? Well, at least on her wedding day, she does. Brides-to-be everywhere are just itching to get their hands on sparkling diamond bracelets, stunning pearl chokers or shining sapphire earrings, but, alas, the majority can’t afford to purchase such precious pieces. Rent your Rocks has come up with a fabulous business ideajewellery hire for weddings and other special occasions.

What is Rent your Rocks?

Rent your Rocks is a Jewellery hire company – the brilliant business idea of gem jeweller Sophie Croyden, it’s a recent brand extension of the Croyden family’s 180-year old London jewellery business.

How Does Rent your Rocks Work?

Rent your Rocks has an extensive collection of necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings for hire for weddings, parties and other special occasions. Simply browse the collection – either on the online catalogue or at their London salon – select the piece which takes your fancy, and then register as a Rent your Rocks user (online or in-store). Rentals are weekly or monthly, and a security deposit to the value of 25 % of the value of the jewellery piece is required. Rent your Rocks uses the Royal Mail Special Delivery Service to dispatch orders directly to your doorstep. All that’s left for you to do is arrive at your function dripping in diamonds. To avoid incurring penalty fines, just ensure you ship your gems back to them – via the Royal Mail – when you’re done.

And just in case you thought jewellery hire was only for us ordinary folk – Rent your Rocks is also used by celebrities, like ex-Spice Girl Emma Bunting and songstress Charlotte Church, when they need to wow the cameras.

Could jewellery hire work in South Africa? You tell us…any entrepreneurs out there willing to give this business idea a go?
